Why is Rule of Law Important?

The rule of law means that everyone, including those in power, is accountable to the same laws, applied fairly and consistently. It's what separates a free society from one governed by the whims of whoever holds power. When leaders, courts, and institutions follow the law rather than bend it to their advantage, people can trust that their rights will be protected and that justice doesn't depend on who you know or what office you hold.

What Can I Do?

Stay informed about how laws are enforced in your community and hold elected officials accountable when they act above the law. Support independent courts and a free press, both of which help expose abuses of power. Vote for leaders who respect legal checks and balances, and speak up when you see the rule of law being undermined.
